June 12, 2010

Colorado asked me to marry him almost a whole year ago. May 22 I think. We were at his Grandma's house, that's where he lived at the time. Usually I would go over there after I got off work and almost all weekend (when he wasn't working). This night we had found a box of brownies at Albertson's on the 99 cent aisle. So I made brownies while he pretended to watch. We watched T.V. while they were baking. When I got up to cut them, Colorado went to his bedroom. I cut the brownies and put two in some napkins. When I opened his door, he was down on one knee and asked me "Water Baby, will you marry me?"

Needless to say, I said yes. We moved in together 3 months later and now we think we might have a date for the wedding. June 12, 2010.

I'll make a Croquembouche!

June 12th? Thats a long ways off babay! Can ya'll hold out that long?
I was engaged the year after I got out of High School. pam. Went to her Dad, said I'd like to marry his daughter.
He put his shovel down (he was working in the back yard) and wiped his brow, looked at me and said
"You think so boy?" and he looked towards the house where his wife Peggy was fixin him some Ice Tea and said
"Its s rough row to hoe, boy, but if you want to its OK with me" because he liked me a lot.
Then Peggy handed him his tea...she was beaming...
But Pam and I didn't last the 6 months to the date we set...

Don't let this story bother you Baby, cause everybody makes their own deal, everybody makes their own way.
But like Mr. Frederickson told me...its a rough row to hoe.

WB - you've more sense on your shoulders than your dad's got ... wisecracks!

besides, let's face it - men tend to think with a much smaller brain than women do. waiting is good. i lived with my husband a year. THEN got engaged. THEN married a year later.

of course it was ALL WRONG. from the very beginning. but you see? it wasn't the waiting. it was just my not being able to face the fact that i had made a mistake; was going to make a bigger mistake.

i had a real fear of failure thing happening. come to think of it - i still do !!!!!

whatever the year brings, we will be right here supporting you all the way! my best wishes to you both.

Yeah, we'll make one of those 5 footers!
And I'll get to tie cans on her bumper and follow them honking down the road!
It will be fun!

Daddy, Maybe we can make a croquembouche! You have told me stories about Pam before.

Red Dirt Mule, Colorado and I have been best friends for two years and I have no idea at what point we fell in love but it happened! He was probably the person I talked to most when I was in Galveston and when I was home, you could bet that I was with him. We survived a road trip and staying with his grandparents and living together for almost 10 months. If we can plan the wedding with a minimum of casualties, I hope we can make it through the years.

Barbara, I was already planning on asking his opinion on the cake and menu for the reception! maybe the rehearsal dinner?

Dad, I'd like that Daddy, I love you!!

Congratulations, Water Baby! And taking your time is wise.

I just came from your dad's post and wanted to say ditto -- I haven't met too many with his sense of humor! Priceless!

Congrats, WB! You sound level-headed and very organized! I wish you the best. I always say that it's never an absolute sure thing, but I guess you have to both believe it's more than worth he gamble! Hey, I've been married for 29 years this July 12th!
have fun planning...and saving! :)
